Freezing

The main aspect of this photo was the shutter speed. It had to be fast enough to keep her jacket in motion as she twirled. I had the model turn and a friend throw leaves at her coat to get the freezing effect. Aperture F1.8 Shutter Speed 1/500 ISO 100

This photo was taken with the same settings and at the same time as the photo above, but it was crucial to have my camera on burst mode to get multiple shots. Taking many shots in a short amount of time with freezing motion can be very helpful. Aperture: F1.8 Shutter Speed: 1/500 ISO 100

You can see the blur in the young girl’s hair in this shot. The shutter speed was fast enough to get her body in focus but slow enough to blur the ends of her hair. Aperture: F1.8 Shutter Speed: 1/125 ISO 250

The two photos above were taken of fire. I hand held the camera and simply moved it in circles or back and forth to get the separate effects. These were my settings. Aperture: F 16 Shutter Speed: 6 ISO: 100
